Marriage Letters: Opposites Attract

Join me and my wife, Audrey along with Amber @ The Run a Muck, as we write our marriage letters to shine light on the joy and truth of marriage, along with the struggles.  Marriage is worth fighting for.

Audge,

So I really don't think we're that opposite.  I mean there are some things like how I love scary movies and you are more a romantic drama type girl.  I'm a huge fan of mayonnaise and milk.  You hate both.  Okay, maybe there are more differences than I imagined.  Our styles are quite different.  In fact, I think you tell me I don't have a style most of the time.  The thing they say about differences is that you have to compromise with your spouse.  Somehow I think we missed the class on compromise.  Maybe it's because the one thing we are so much alike on is our stubbornness.  I think sometimes compromise for us looks like two cars crashing into each other at 90mph.  But somehow in the midst of the test of wills our lives become entangled into amazing adventures.  Like how you love the beach and I love the mountains, but the trips to either are more fun than we could ever plan out.  You are always cold and I am always hot, but you still bought me an air conditioner this last summer.  Best gift ever.

The one thing we have never disagreed on was that we want our lives and our family to bring God glory.  We want to serve him with all of our lives no matter the cost.  I'm so glad to be married to a woman who doesn't just say that, but means it.  You never back down from a fight.  When we began talking about moving half way across the country to serve God you never faltered and when I begin to struggle, you always challenge me and remind me why we are here.  I think you are so strong even when you don't think it yourself.  When I see you stand up for yourself, our mission, or even me, I smile inside.  And even when I disagree with you I so respect your passion.  So I guess we are opposite in some ways and have differing ideas at times, but it seems to keep everyday interesting.  And neither of us have ever been people to want things to be boring.

Love you so much,
Q
