Believe

If I'm honest, I've always struggled with insecurities.  I always feel this pressure to preform at a certain level because in my mind everyone is watching and waiting.  Even being her in Eugene I feel like everyone is waiting to see what takes place.  This has caused me to many times focus my life around how I can best utilize my skills, abilities, and gifts to make things happen.  Many time to "make things happen" for God's glory.  Even as I type that it feels ridiculous in light of what God has been teaching me.  In the last couple of months, God has been showing me my real part to play in all of this is simple.  It is to believe.  Not believe with some head knowledge, but to believe with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.  God is moving in this world and he is bringing glory to himself and spreading His love to His people.  We get to be a part of this when we believe him and trust him.  The Bible reiterates this throughout.

Matthew 13:58 says, "And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief."  Jesus was in Nazareth and people were saying they wanted to see some magic from this amazing man, but they really didn't believe in the Son of God and what he was here for.  So he doesn't do anything.  Could he of?  Sure.  But their part to play was to believe.  In Mark 11 Jesus says, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."  This is not prosperity.  We know God's will is going to take place.  This is an opportunity for us to believe in His will and be a part of it taking place in our lives.  I believe God is going to do a work here in Eugene and I've got to chase God in the midst of that belief.  Even when it's tough and don't make sense.  Even when I feel like I'm failing and not meeting expectation.  I have to believe God is never failing and his expectations are the Gospel being lived out every day.  Habakkuk writes, "but the righteous shall live by his faith."  We must have faith and live our belief out everyday.  I don't want to get to the end of my life and have missed out on what could have been because I did not believe it was possible.  Jesus tells us that with God all things are possible.  We must believe that.  


If you don't know Jesus, he says in Mark, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."  Believe and be saved.  If you know Jesus remember what Paul told us when he said without Faith it is impossible to please God.

    Good word! Some times it's hard for us to just be and not try to always do. Thanks for the good reminder.

    So true Bryan. You guys need to fly out for a few days. We could get a cabin in the mountains or something. Have some good writing time.

    So true Q! It is hard to wait and not compare new adventures with previous ones. We just have to keep in mind...our love for God lies in obedience. Like Samuel told David when he annointed him King, "Heed the Word of the Lord and keep His commandments and your enemies will flee..." Keep being obedient, doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God. Love ya man. GOD will reap what he sews and bless you for being obedient.

Why we put December in a low income school.

I want to start by saying, in no way is what we have chosen the best or only way out there.   We just feel it's our way this season. But here is why we chose this path:  When we moved to Oregon we knew our oldest would be going into school.  The great thing is that there are many options for school here.  Private Christian Schools, homeschooling, and the county even let's you enter lotteries for any of the many public elementary schools around.  So when the day came, Audrey and I had much to talk about. We really felt that God had led our family to try our best to make big decisions as missionaries walking in faith.  This led us to believe that the school that was literally just around the corner from our house was a prime mission field.  The coolest part is that Decmeber got to be the lead missionary here.  She would dictate relationships and she would be at the center of decisions of our family involvement.  This has been so beautiful to watch. 17 Challenge Update

So here is where we are at.  In less than 24 hours around 70 people joined in together and raised over $1700 to help bring sight to the blind.  The blind in this case is my friend at the Eugene Mission, Richard.  This afternoon I broke the news to him about how many of you had joined in to help him see again.  He broke down crying in disbelief.  Then we prayed and gave God glory for providing when it was thought impossible. A couple of months ago Richard had began seeing doctors to see what had happened with his eyes.  He found out that he had cataracts growing over his eyes, but it was fixable.  The problem is that any charity funded agencies were only going to help with medical, not optical issues.  The surgical assistant told Richard he would need $1700 to get the procedure.  We talked to the lions club, but depleted funds left them with no way to help.  We gave up.  Then the scripture convicted me and led to the 17 challenge that happened yesterday.  God did amazing things.   Che
